It's annoying because he was in pain. If Wawrinka is better when both of them are fine, that's cool.

Wawrinka is very physical which makes him generally uncomfortable for Nadal on such surface... he wont another final against him recently. I get what you're saying though but that's part of the game & unfortunately Nadal has suffered from injuries from day one.

Yeah he's polite, after making it clear he wouldn't have lost if he were healthy. Look for what he said after losing to Rosol, Soderling, Nalbandian, and bunch of others, he was either injured or didn't play his best, never actually giving props.

Nadal didn't forfeit the game for the sake of the crowd and Wawrinka. He's a very physical player and people who don't understand his frequent problems and need for treatment are childish. If he were intending to blame the defeat on his injury, he would have just forfeited. He played obviously in pain and adversity until the end, even managed to win a set and then he went on to thank the crowd that jeered at him. How much more polite can you get?

If he was trying not to blame the defeat on his injury he should have downplayed it, but he did the opposite as usual.
