I do think spoonfull is bad, but not necessarily 'emo' music in general. I don't mind the occasional self-pitying, woe is me track. But I can only handle so much, and if it isn't done in a creative/interesting way, no thank you. Also, most of the lyrics read like amateur poetry. There are only a handle of lines I even remember liking, and hardly any of them resonate. That said, I think this is dope:

"I studied every single eyelash
On her little face and they look like venus flytraps"

- Cool comparison, succinct. Though I would say the eyes with the eyelashes are the venus flytraps and not each eyelash, but it gets the job done. But there's a difference between using poetic phrasing because it is effective, and using it just to come off as poetic. The latter being bad, and what I think is happening most of the time.

You not being able to relate to him, or forcing yourself not to because you think it's emo, doesn't mean that it's bad. Spoonfull and Sadistik are completely different styles. The line you posted from Sadistik is never something Spoonfull would do because Sadistik gets into the deep and metaphorical poetic rap while Spoonfull gets into the rapping about every day topics rap but fixing a way to make them important ala slug. The reason you might think that's its amateur poetry is because you're trying to look at it like poetry when it's really not poetry at all (except for some of his later work). Like I said earlier, you must not listen to any folk music because he's essentially a folk artist thrown through a music portal and came out as a rapper. Also Spoonfull's music is hardly woe is me, he actually hardly has any tracks at all like that. Most of his music is just the world seen through the eyes of a cynic but the music is hardly ever about his depression like Sadistik's.

This is literally just a song about him staring at a girl in a bar and imagining her life. If it's not your style that's fine, I'm not trying to convince you to like him or even defend him from you, you just seem to have the wrong viewpoint for about his music.

I'll check the song when I get home tonight, but you're probably right about me being off-base with my spoonfull criticism. I was thinking eyedea/sadistik and lumped spoonfull in there after only hearing a track or two. But I understand that me not being able to relate doesn't mean its bad, but as long as I'm being sincere then I can try my best to explain why I don't dig it and we can have a discussion.

Does he have any projects you rec? I really liked him on Retrohash.

My copy arrived today. Honestly, I'm as hollow as a zombie seems...Virginia Woolf felt these pocket seams. Gummo is fantastic, the chorus is gorgeous. I like how the entire song follows the same scheme, Legacy-esque. Nowhere and Still Awake are probably the lowest points of the album for me, but I still enjoy them. I'm from the state of rain but I don't reign my state. :8)

Been listening to this album non stop for 2 weeks. Too much greatness.
That dark intro >>>
1984 great song
That monsterous Eyedea verse on Chemical Burns (that flow :o)
In The Night :'(
Nowhere (the whole song, but especially that bass gives me chills)
Witching Hours :worship:
The rhyming on Blue Sunshine :flutter:
The perfect outro with The Rabbithole

9.5/10 in my book.
