A pretty eventless day in the life of the outlaw..
On eventless days, I usually listen to a lot of Em's material and read up old shit about him like those huge controversies surrounding him in 2000/2001 (call me a stan if you want, I'm pretty much the definition of this term)
Anyways, back on topic. What do y'all think are literally FLAWLESS songs from his catalogue?
Here are mine
- Lose Yourself
It is my favourite song of all time but I ain't biased on this one.
This song, in my opinion of course, is flawless. Not one bad line, an amazing beat, astonishing lyrics and crazy rhyming from the moment he raps "his palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy..." all the way to the final chorus. Also, I LOVE the raw energy (is that possible? maybe y'all get what i'm trying to say)he displays on this song is just awesome! It didn't win an Oscar for nothing.
- Sing for the moment
I think this is the most loved song on TR, and it's not without reason.
This is my personal favourite from the Eminem Show and here's why: First, the beat. My favourite Em-produced beat...like, ever. It's a great beat and shows us that Em is pretty underrated as a producer. Second, the lyrics. AMAZING shit right here. He talks about the effect his music has(had) on the kids of America. The 3rd verse is his best ever (again, in my opinion.) I also love the energy he displays in the line "you're full of shit too guerrera, that was a FIST that HITS you!". Third: the chrorus. I am a big fan of this chrorus because it samples a great song and his "SING!" And "C'MON" .
This is my shit . 2002 was perfect!
- 'Till I Collapse
Speaking of 2002, this tune is flawless as well. GREAT 'we will rock you' type of beat, flawless lyrics, not one bad line, a fantastic hook from Nate Dogg (why oh why are there not more Nate/Em collabs than there are..), his most popular non-single ever, another personal favourite of mine and once again, Em displays pure energy on this song throughout ALL the verses, it's also a great motivational and workout song.
- Stan
"Stan" is perfect and praised by many hip hop fans as one of the greatest rap songs of all time.
In this story of an obsessed fan who kills himself in the end because Em doesn't reply to him after 6 months of Stan writing letters to Em, Eminem slips into both the roles of Stan and Marshall Mathers, respectively.
The first 2 verses are optimistic letters from Stan to Marshall and in the 3rd, Stan is PISSED because he doesn't get a reply and ends up killing himself and his pregnant girlfriend . In the 4th verse, Marshall finally writes a letter to Stan but realizes that Stan is dead at the end.
I love the atmosphere this song creates, the concept and the story which is executed perfectly.
OTHER SONGS THAT I FIND FLAWLESS (but am too lazy to write something about)
- 8 mile road
- Stimulate
- The Way I am
- Criminal
- White America
