the charisma is incredible. But also Immortal Technique, I've seen that dude break mics. Jarren Benton is insane live as well, but he's always on some crazy stimulant so that may not count. But then you have artists like Soul Khan who seem to never need a breather, he'll do his whole set without a single pause which makes no sense to me. Then of course there's Dizaster but I doubt battle mc's count here either. I can list and link plenty more if you'd like, just let me know. But please, link me an example of Wayne matching up.
We obviously have very fucking different defintions of what constitutes charisma? Cause that guy was just rapping really fast, ofc he’s gonna have people cheering what do you expect? Them to throw tomatoes at him, he just sounded like some guy trying to beat mac lethal’s record. And lool at citing Immortal technique, well at least now I know you’re not just someone who has a fetish for technicality since his breath control is atrocious. I will say that his lack of technicality however is a plus and give his music that raw feel, almost like he’s just shouting at you like some revolutionary leader. Still lil wayne in Carta II and dedication II is more charismatic he embodied that hardened mob boss with a blasé persona perfectly in songs like hustler muzik and hit em up and really fit that mold.
Have you actually listened through an album of either of those artists? Tech specifically. They put a heavy amount of craftsmanship into their work, constant rewrites and sharpening. Whereas the same cannot be said for Wayne. Last I heard he freestyles all of his verses, is this true?
I’ve listened to Raw by hopsin a while back when everyone was his nuts so hard in this site and came away thinking “Wow this guy is Eminem’s Guerilla Black”, and Sag My Pants is one of the corniest most puerile songs I’ve ever heard. It’s like if someone took everything that was good about prime Eminem cut away all the meat and shook the gristle in a bowl and that’s what you get.
As for Tech N9ne, no, though I do have friends who used to be huge fans of him and showed me his songs all the time but don’t care for him at all anymore and find him almost juvenile. He’s got good technique and can rhyme his ass off and I know people are into that type of shit (nothing wrong with that I go to rhyme asylum or copywrite or Prime Eminem if I wanna hear someone rap their ass off) but I also just find Tech N9ne stylistically bad.
& Lil Wayne gives off that illusion cause of how insanely prolific he is and if you mean nowadays than yeah he does not give one shit. He’s a sorta mad scientist with hip hop and very up and down as an artist but you could make CDs worth of material of his best songs. He doesn’t have any shimmering flawless classic (though few people do) and most of his material suffers from being excessively long not from him half assing his writing. As for freestyling the verses, I never heard of that unless you mean Jay z. Da Drought 3 has a very mixtape feel (it’s a fucking mixtape) and it’s him just spitting similies and punchlines over a variety of flows and deliveries and him just flexing his skills. Carta II absolutely feels like an album, hell even Da Dedication 2 it’s very well themed and has skits to it that give it an authentic feel, Da Drought 3 is the opposite it’s a scattershot mixtape with beats off all different sounds variations. That might be why it might seem like he doesn’t care in that mixtape.
That's true. I did, because everything before it sucked. But I give every new release of every artist an honest listen.
So once with a negative mindset, like I said not exactly objective, and I know I sound like a hypocrite for bashing Tech N9ne & Hopsin for that but at least I don’t try and act like the end all be all regarding them. Also lil wayne’s material preceding Carta II is vastly inferior to it.
What does that mean? Nearly every single rapper to ever exist is underground.
Meaning that you shit on just about everything mainstream but specifically crap on artists if they aren’t as technical or rap with as much multies as your favorites and dry to dress up your preferences in rap as the way to go. I mean come on man you bash just about every mainstream artist and even if you praise Eminem he’s as far as mainstream as can be (well prime anyway) but actually has charisma and skill. You also specifically put stock in how much multies a rapper can fit into a verse, how is that not like a stereotypical youtube underground poseur?
What verse?
I have to get back on this but it was fairly recent, I swear to God I’m not making it up though.
asked me, I'm being as humble as possible. What in my response was arrogant and bigheaded? And while I do pull from sources of inspiration I like to believe that I've always had a distinct style.
Being humble is saying you could take a shit better than those projects? LOOOOL
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=133492Cause you didn’t just absolutely fucking SHARK tech n9ne/crooked I/ random generic multi syllabic rapper #44002. If you think I’m unfair by linking an old song than link a song or hell even written that’s better written than to his first verse in World of Fantasy, Hit Em Up, Georgia Bush, etc.
That's not what you said. You said writtens and studio material, and I asked what the difference was between the two-- still awaiting a response.
Quit playing semantic games I laughed at comparing writtens to something actually performed (cause you know half of if not more is about the delivery than the actual writing).
I very did, I'm not a liar. But please show me an example of him swapping flows in a song, I've never heard this from Wayne, he uses the same simple flow start-to-finish every single time, with a hook in between
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49bhGgKdduk (I also said deliveries not just flows)
Not to mention you called him generic (fucking ROFL), I mean I could understand calling drake that, but when you start a song with a Jamaican accent that’s not fucking generic.
Or making a song like Crazy (and no I don’t just mean covering a song in sing songy manner).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsAPvMEf2XE (completely generic right) loll
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJUszYxuVUMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuyEgvCVYd8 (one of the most experimental hip hop songs that isn’t like death grips or dalek)
This is simply untrue. For example I'm an eyedea and slug fan. In fact I really enjoyed that last atmosphere project.
Eyedea is hella fucking technical, have you listened to E&A? Unless you mean By the throat. And slug isn’t a slouch in the technical department either, he doesn’t let it dictate his music (cause he’s not a shitty rapper) but it makes sense since they both were battle rappers.
I'm really not that big of a hopsin fan. Never have been. Not sure where you got that idea, I do appreciate his efforts though and we are friends so I won't speak negatively on him as I know how hard he tries.
Didn’t you have a thread (granted a while back) meeting hopsin?
