Finally was able to get to a point where I hated myself enough to endure B.o.B's Underground Luxury (Dumbass name
). Here we go.
Artist: B.o.B
Album: Underground Luxury
Expectations: I was hyped to hear that B.o.B would be dropping a studio album. AoBR and Strange Clouds were pretty dope, and of course B.o.B drops some quality ass mixtapes (No Genre!), so expectations were high..until Fuck em we Ball came out. Usually, to me the mixtape he drops before an album give a feel of what the album is going to sound like (Just note the sound of EPIC to the sound of Strange Clouds). Anyways, this instantly dropped any high expectations of this album with songs like We Still in this Bitch (Cuz we all know he recycles shit from his mixtapes to put on his albums)
WTF?! This is the first B.o.B album I ain't copped first day since AoBR. Ended up getting it for Christmas and finally just now got around to listening to its entirety, what does that tell ya?
Rate the tracks: (1-10)
1) All I Want - 3.5/10 (Why would this be an opener? Bomb's Away was dope AF on Strange Clouds, do something like that. Unforgettable hook and verses.)
2) One Day - 10/10 (Classic B.o.B vibe, great hook, and piano beat)
3) Paper Route - 10/10 (Fresh and classic vibes from B.o.B at the same time)
4) Ready - 6.5/10 (Shit ass Future chorus! You're good on hooks!!!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING BOB?)
5) Throwback - 0/10 (This is where the CD takes a nose dive, no props)
6) Back Me Up - 5/10 (Chorus is simple, beat is simple, but it's okay)
7) Coastline - 8/10 (Getting better?)
8) Wide Open - 0/10 (Nope, I instantly abhor this song. It's abysmal. Worst song on the album! This is not B.o.B)
9) Fly MuthaFucka - 7/10 (Maybe it's just cause of coming off of Wide Open, but I kinda like this song)
10) HeadBand - 4.5/10 (That's right Bobby feature the guy you're biting on this whole album)
11) John Doe - 0/10 (Fuck this song, fuck the lame chorus, fuck everything about it. It's a failed attempt to
make a meaningful song on this shitstorm)
12) Cranberry Moonwak - 0/10 (WTF is a Cranberry Moonwalk?!!?!?!)
13) Nobody Told Me - 6/10 (It doesn't even make sense to be on this CD! All you've done is bragged about how much money you have and now you're going to tell me money don't make you rich? DF? I do like this song, but it just proves how much of a contradiction this album is!)
14) Forever - 0/10 (Dumbass Chorus. Stop handing out free Playboy Tre verses for exposure, there's a reason he is not going no where!)
15) We Still in this Bitch - 3/10 (Well, we all heard this haven't we? The only saving grace is a catchy hook that don't mean shit)
Final Rating? (1-10)
63.5/150 = 4/10 = 42% = F for FUCKING SUCKED!
Did the album meet your expectations?
Hell no, I'd take FewB over this, even No genre 2 (That's for another day).
