The Heist was beautifully written and produced. It's commercially appealing. I can only listen to Kendrick around other hip hop heads. I can play The Heist around anyone.

Exactly. Both are dope albums. It's a losing fight to keep arguing the pop v. Hip hop thing. I know it's obviously different and Eminem is a superior Emcee by far but people thought he was a gimmick when SSLP dropped. Just how it goes.

please stop.

The heist has never been considered as a top 5 album of 2012, never. it was always gkmc, lig, rap music, control system, hnc, reloaded and the list goes on.

Macklemore is hated for legitimate reasons.

Okay, but my gripe is that so many people (including bitter black OG rappers) would say he's mediocre but continuously failed to deviate from the 'white power in black music' discussion. It was one of the biggest most disgusting and pathetic widespread racist discussions I've seen in music in a while.

The white privilege at the Grammy Awards is as flagrant as the black privilege at the BET awards (black entertainment television) and those who run these 2 shows have always been criticized for being racists.

Macklemore was hated because his album was by far one of the worst in that category. The same shit would have happened to the BET or another Awards ceremony for black artists if 2chainz had won best rap album of the year over 4 better albums made by white artists.

"IMO" means "In my opinion". The thread is titled "What do you think of Macklemore?" It is in my opinion that The Heist was a solid 2012 release and a top 5 album that year (across all genres). For the record, I DISLIKE every other Macklemore project release prior. I forgot that Life is Good came out that year, So I will actually give that the #2 spot behind GKMC.

Everyone knows what the general hiphop population thinks of Macklemore. However, I chose to listen to The Heist with an open mind and formulate my own opinion rather than letting the mass majority cloud my judgment. I do that with every album. If I formulated my opinions on what everyone else thought, I would just be another brainless moron praising Kanye's MBDTF and Yeezus. Luckily, My parents raised me to think for myself.

Nah, that's class_thekingImage

On topic, I wonder what percentage of The Heist's sales are purchases made by homosexuals? It likely won't be much, but it'll be significantly more than other albums within the genre.
