I don't mean to butt my own experience in but I'd like to say that from the first listen I disliked Recovery and actually had to kinda grow to like it somewhat. But with that being said, the reason why I disliked it from the first listen was the drastic change in Em's style and sound. It didn't feel like an Eminem album and to this day it still doesn't feel that genuine tbh.

How does one think Em singing (horribly) about a woman that he gives only vaguest of descriptions not to be a low? Out of nowhere, too. STIW came right after Brainless, which is about as jarring a shift in pace and tone as one can get.
