platinum is a million sales...whats going on here?

MMLP2 has sold 2,222,000 copies in the United States since its release in Nov, 2013, in 2013, it sold a whopping 1.72 million within 8 weeks, but in 2014, as of now, it sold 500,000 copies, therefore you get a combied sale of 2.22 million.

And it is true, no album, except Frozen (a soundtrack), has sold more than one million copies so far. The second best selling album in 2014 is Beyonce (at around 700,000 copies)
