First 2 beats :O

Well I've been trying to learn how to produce with FL studio for a few weeks, and I've concluded that I'm a failure

No but seriously, here are my first 2 attempts at making a beat.

This is my first try. It's really short cause it's not really intended for use...I was just seeing if I could make something. I have no idea what I was trying to do in the beginning but I think it gets decent at around 20 seconds...

And that's my second try. I think it's a little better but it gets offbeat as hell at some parts.

The gay thing is, I'm using the demo version of FL studio 7 so I can't save any of my projects
So I guess I can't alter these at all.

I hope to start practicing more soon =)

well, first of all, u got WAY too many claps

and the sounds ur using, the ones that come in fl, ARE bad, i suggest getting some soundfonts or vsts. and drum packs from the ^ sticky on this sub forum...

the melody that comes at 20 sec has potential....

second try:
sounds like the intro to Marshall Mathers song lol... some notes don't fit with the melody.. this time though, ur melody work better.. the drums that come in are bad.. the kick is good, but the there's like no snare??? and the drums are tooo fast, i like the hallow sound that comes in, but it's needs to go away faster...

Big improvemnt on ur second try, but ur drums are a big problem... try a simple pattern like the kick on the 1/4 [first note of black area in sequncer], snare on [2/4, first note of black area in sequencer] and the hi hats are every other note.. that's the simplest pattern i've done and it works nice...

also, u should get fl studio full, cuz it'll be a pain in the ass otherwise...

another thing, try feeding others beats, so u get more review!

Yeah I'll be getting the full version of FL soon, and I'll be sure to try out that drum pattern tomorrow.
I'll download some more sounds for FL too. I don't have much at this point.

tash said everything i would've said. i did want to add something though. after you get the simple drum pattern tash mentioned to work, and u decide to switch it up in future projects, turn on the metronome. if you're having difficulty making a complex pattern on beat it'll help.
