Speakers ?

Postby ,-,'-{Bar}-',-, » Mar 26th, '08, 22:52

well, i need speakers, Jack connection speakers to be more precise :sweating:

but i dunno anything about speakers, i know what bass is and stuff, but i also know that some amplify the bass and other dont have it equal enough..while others cut out frequenzies ect.

so i need a good balanced pair of speakers, at a reasonable price, its only for mixing my own track since imma start doin that instead of begging other people :sweating:

so if anyone knows a pair that fit that description if they could link me to them :sweating: id really apreciate it :worship:

i do have speakers btw, i use them for my CD deck but they dont have a connection there just a bare wire that i stick into a slot on the back of the decks, they would be work for me but i have no idea how i could get them to a jack connection without blowing up :p

well the best thing to get is studio monitors, but the good ones are expensive ($200+) you might find some for a less expensive price but I'm not sure if they're worth it :sweating:

if you just want something better than regular computer speakers, you could get a small setup with a sub like:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006B ... DER6S50DGY

it's just an example, I don't know if they're good, but you could get something decent for that price, and it would sound better than with regular computer speakers... it might not be the best thing to use to mix tracks, like you said, some speakers kinda change the sound, but to get that flat sound, I think the best/only option is the studio monitors :sweating: so if you can't afford studio monitors right now, a speaker setup like that one^ could be a solution, you would just have to make some tests like, put the song you're mixing on a mp3 player, or burn it on a CD and listen to it on other systems, to make sure everything's fine... and with time, you'd get used to your speakers and you would know what's right and what's wrong...

and it's a lot more motivating to mix with a setup like that than mixing with cheap computer speakers lol

but getting a 100-200 dollars speakers setup probably wouldn't be a good idea... it's better to spend like 25-30 dollars on a small setup first and save some money to get real studio monitors later

Thanx Man :worship:

and yeh, they are expensive, i didnt know the proper term for them i usually just called them "big speakers" lmao, but i searched for studio monitors and its like £100-£250 for them and dam thats alot for speakers lol

only ones i found in a reasonable price range was

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... 539&sr=8-3

again though, i dunno much about them :sweating: and cant seem to find out the connection they have (1/4 inch jack is what i need)

so yeh i think ill just get decent computer speakers and do what you said, coz the speakers i use on my decks are really good quality so i should be able to use them as a comparison when i burn it to cd

thank man :worship: :worship:

yeah, they might be good monitors tho, I'm not sure either... you'd have to ask the opinion of an expert who tried many monitors and knows which studio monitors are worth their price:sweating:

but about the speakers you already have, maybe you could get some sort of adaptor to be able to plug them to your computer? do you know what's the name of the wire you use to plug them to your CD deck?

^ that the wires, sorry the pics a bit big to post on the forum and itll get cut off lol

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/DBarclay/2-1.jpg

and that is were the wires go..

really old school just sticking wires in holes :p

im guessing there is a way to get those wired fitted with a jack, but then they would'nt be able to go on my decks, witch is were i listen to all my music on, unless there is a sort of jack extension for this wire connection, that would work lol i wonder were i could find that out

oh yeah, I see what you're talking about lol... I got an old CD deck that works like that too, but I really don'T know if there's an adaptor for that... but yeah, that type of speakers usually are quite cool :y:

edit: just made a quick search on google, and it seems like there's an adaptor for that type of wire... I looked for "speakers wire adaptor" and found a few pages about that  I couldn't find an amazon link tho... but maybe if you go to a music store, or something like that, and ask them, they'll probably know what you need

edit 2: to tash, I can'T find my speakers on amazon, I think they're a bit too old :sweating: I bought them from one of my friends like 3-4 years ago, so they're probably 5-6 year old... but it's like a 4.1 setup (I only use the front left and right speakers tho, cause I don't have enough out ports on my soundcard :sweating:)... I'm saving some money to get some high quality studio monitors, but for now I'm used to my speakers and I can get decent results with them so I prefer to wait then buying some $150 studio monitors and be unsatisfied with them after a few months

i went into the shop and the guy was saying how you cant get push in adaptors when you have the wire connection, but you can get the connection fitted on to it, but it then make it not be able to be a wire connection anymore.

i took them into the shop and ive to pick them uo tomorrow and theyll be fitted with jack connection so everything has worked out on

also it onyl cost £3 per speaker to get it done
