people say his commercial hits like "the real slim shady" and "without me" were the mistakes, or signing 50, working with jimmy iovine and interscope, or encore and whatnot...

but shit, once i think about it, i'm glad he did those things. i was lookin at the first eminem song thread and most of the ppl said the first song they heard was "the real slim shady". whether it was commercial or not, that song was HUGE and really launched his career. i'm glad he made that and released it.

and i'ma be real here for a moment cuz as much as 50 does annoy me...when he first came out, he was the hottest thing. everyone now says "oh, 50 sucks" or whatever, but i bet you were singing his songs from his first album. shit, i know i was. i loved "wanksta" and "in da club" and all them hits. the only really popular figure em's been asociated with is dre, and he's rarely in the spotlight anymore. so when he signed 50... i was happy that em was capable of making stars from his record company.

and i know lots of ppl don't like encore... but some of his best tracks come from there, so once again, i don't think that was a mistake either. cuz if he didn't releases that album, i wouldn't have "mockingbird", "evil deeds" or "like toy soldiers".

and one last thing... if em didn't work with jimmy, the person that GAVE his ep to dre, none of this would've happened. so be grateful for him too.

I agree with you there. Some of Em's songs may seem stupid, but they are what they are meant to be: "club/mtv" songs. The Real Slim Shady, Without Me, Just Lose It, are all just pointless jabs at celebrities that try to gain popularity before he releases his album with some of his better songs. 50 Cent may be a mistake now, but back then he was popular, in fact, he still is popular. He may be hated, but he's still selling tons of records and making tons of money.

That being said, I do think it's pretty Eminem overdid some of the silly songs on his new album (My first Single :tounge2:)

Hmm i dont agree with " Without Me " being a mistake as that was the song that convinced me to buy the Eminem Show and made me the fan I am.

I think his biggest mistakes were putting songs like Big Weenie, My first single and songs that are similar in quality to those.

althpugh i cant say at the moment im the biggest fan of 50's stuff you still gotta admit 'get rich or die tryin' was one of the greatest debut solo albums in rap to-date.

50 is turning to commericalism for money and plenty of it.

Anyways em's biggest mistake........maybe featuring on collabs so much.Sometimes is good but like the tupac stuff its a bit  maybe thats just a lil thing but i defo say his biggest mistake would be not to get lil john on either the shady label or aftermath.

Wow...you're right. Foolish pride was definately a mistake. He was young when he did it, but it wasn't too smart and even he apologized for it. Good one.

going to jimmy ivione???are ur crazy he would not be here if he would not work with that man...what's ur prob?? and the other fact of being too commercial: WE u know WE, fans, stalker so on have made him commercial i don'T think that anybody would have known that em would be so popular..if somebody becomes maintream then it's not the artist's fault...fans are making an artist bigger and bigger i think that eminem never wanted to be so famous... :8)
his biggest mistake??? signing 50 for sure and to make his life so public...he have insultet his ex wife in a way that nobody had and that's fucking scaring me...that was not ok and the fact how he spoke about his mother : in the end she's HIS mother...nobody really knows what happend between them...nobody....
