Fat Joe,Jadakiss & Russell Simmons To Party With NJ Atto

Russell Simmons, Queen Latifah, Fat Joe and Jadakiss have been invited to a farewell party for New Jersey State Attorney General Peter C. Harvey.

Other invited guests include Naughty by Nature's Treach, Wyclef Jean, Hot 97 New York radio personality Angie Martinez, DMC of Run-DMC, MC Lyte, and Doug E. Fresh.

Sources say the invitations were e-mailed to state employees and mailed to roughly a dozen of rap, movie and sport stars. In addition to the aforementioned artists, invites were also sent to actor Michael Douglas (Basic Instinct) and comedian Jason Alexander ("Seinfeld"). RSVP cards were sent out. The cards cost $50. It is uncertain whether celebs also received the $50 cards.

Harvey reportedly became familiar with celebs when his office invited rappers to NJ to take part in a federally funded program that aims to boost voting participation. Among the events, Harvey was involved in two Hip-Hop summits hosted by Simmons' Hip-Hop Action Summit Network in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

While some invited guests have worked with Harvey, others have had run-ins with the law. In March, North Carolina authorities dropped weapons and marijuana possession charges against 'Kiss once the raspy lyricist paid a $900 fine and agreed to destroy two 45-caliber pistols and submit to drug testing.

Back in 1997, Treach was given an undisclosed amount of probation after police uncovered a 9mm semiautomatic pistol in his Lexus.

Latifah was given a misdemeanor weapons charge after Los Angeles police found a loaded gun in the car door of her vehicle back in 1996. Lastly, Joey Crack, alongside Big Pun, was arrested after being accused of robbery and assault when the two heavyweights allegedly struck a man with a baseball bat and snatched his gold chain. The case was eventually dismissed. Joe went on to film a TV ad to encourage New Jersey youths to vote.

There's no word on which celebrities have agreed to attend. The farewell fiesta is scheduled to take place January 13 at Edison, NJ's Pines Manor.
